Our laboratory was founded in 2020 within the creation of Institude of Hydrodynamics and Control Processes (IHCP) at SMTU.
We are located in offices no. 7 and 9 on the basement floor at Kronverkskiy avenue, 5 (Faculty of Marine Instrumentation and Ocean Engineering), St. Petersburg.
Our laboratory represented the St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University (SMTU) at Saint Petersburg Technical Fair on 21-23 of April, 2021. Our exhibition stand had a great success, which shows not only interest in virtual reality technologies, but also in the projects the VRLab is working on.
Our projects won the "Best innovative project and best innovative development" contest in the "Best innovative project (or the development) in the field of technologies of virtual and augmented reality (VR / AR)" nomination for the digital virtual multi-user environment development, and also in the "Best youth innovation project" nominationfor the development of the station for automated user data collection based on a robot-avatar controlled in the virtual reality.
On 23-25 of March, 2021 "Ports of the Arctic" Business Forum was held in Arkhangelsk. Head of the lab, Alexey Pechkin, participated in the forum, demonstrating the projects VRLab was working on at that moment. Negotiations were held on the introducing VRLab and SMTU solutions in the work of the oil and gas industry, as well as in the work of the marine industries.
On 27 of November, 2020, the "Regions - cooperation without borders" interregional exhibition in the field of culture and tourism was opened in "Arena Cheboksary", Cheboksary, Russia.
Main subject of the exhibition were the industrial tourism and the tourism potential of industrial companies. Our lab has presented the capabilities of virtual digital twins of factories and the VR visualization of enterprises to offer a possibility to visit closed areas and, thus, showing the potential of the industry during Covid-19 pandemic.
"Investment day - investment opportunities" business session was held in the "My Business" center on 28 of November, 2020. Representatives of the laboratory discussed the possibilities of introducing R&D into the business processes of companies and medicine, and the principles of operation of Small innovative enterprises based on the developments of universities.
